To tackle this issue head on, we have invited Professor Jim Whitestone of the University of Toronto and Mrs. Adi Dunkelman from ClearBlue Markets to shed better light on this topic.
Guests:
Jim Whitestone is a seasoned environmental policy expert with a distinguished career spanning various leadership roles. As the former Assistant Deputy Minister of the Climate Change and Environmental Policy Division at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, he spearheaded the development and implementation of a wide array of environmental policies and programs. Notably, he played a pivotal role in shaping Ontario's climate change initiatives, including the establishment of the province's cap and trade program in collaboration with California and Quebec. In addition to his government service, Whitestone is deeply engaged in academia, serving as a lecturer on climate change and environmental policy at esteemed institutions such as Osgoode Hall Law School, the University of Toronto's School of the Environment, and the Munk School of Public Policy and Global Affairs. His expertise extends beyond the confines of academia, as evidenced by his involvement in high-profile initiatives such as the review of Canada's carbon pricing system and the consultative group for the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets.
Adi Dunkelman is the Advisory Director at ClearBlue Markets and focuses on monitoring the ongoing regulatory developments of different carbon markets across North America. Adi provides policy analysis and strategic insight on carbon pricing and helps compliance entities navigate the regulatory landscape through strategy development and implementation. Adi supports industrial emitters by communicating organization-specific implications and market opportunities. As industrials increasingly look towards different decarbonization pathways, Adi helps to assess the carbon value of emission reduction projects and additional opportunities in the voluntary carbon markets to help achieve net-zero targets.
