COVID-19 has exposed cracks in our socioeconomic system and brought attention to multiple issues, especially climate change. We know that significant efforts need to be made for the world to reach its climate targets. But how can we finance these solutions and what role can the financial sector play? Today we’ll hear from three impact investing and sustainable finance experts to learn more about how investing can support the recovery and help tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.

Rachel Samson is Clean Growth Research Director at the Canadian Institute of Climate Choices. Rachel has worked on climate change policy and the intersection of environmental and economic policy for over 20 years. She has experience working as an economist at Finance Canada and as Director of Current Analysis and Economic Research at Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Joel Solomon is a Founding Partner of Renewal Funds, Canada's largest mission venture capital firm, at $240 million assets under management. Investing in organics and climate tech in Canada and the USA, Renewal Funds is GIIRS-rated, a founding Canadian B Corp (5x “Best for the World”), a “1% for the Planet” member, and recognized as ImpactAssets “Top 50 impact fund managers”. Joel is a frequent public speaker, board member of the University of British Columbia, co-producer of the Integrated Capital Institute with RSF Social Finance, and co-author of The Clean Money Revolution: Re-Inventing Power, Purpose & Capitalism.

Kelly Gauthier is Managing Director and Partner at Rally Assets, and a Board Member with the Responsible Investment Association. Kelly brings 17 years of experience working with a range of asset owners to design and implement their approach to responsible and impact investing.
