Youth 7 2020 Summit: Advocating for Canadian Youth on Global Security, Political, and Social Issues

This year, the Y7 2020 Canadian delegation, along with fellow delegates across the G7 and the EU, took part in the first online Y7 summit due to the unprecedented effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 Y7 summit focused on four major themes: Peace and Security, Education & Jobs, Global Connectivity & Trade, and last but not least, Energy.

This episode is a special edition of BTH, presented by delegates from the Young Diplomats of Canada.

Mojann Zibapour is a delegate and the communications coordinator for the Y7 2020 Canadian delegation. She was the director of the YDC & BTH podcast. Currently, she works as a National Program Officer for the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. @Mojann

Kirtbir Chahal is the head delegate of the Y7 2020 Canada delegation. Currently she works as a G7 Policy Advisor at the Cabinet Office, the Government of the United Kingdom. @kirtbir

Carla-Anide Guillaume is a delegate of the Y7 2020 Canada delegation. Currently, she is working as an Executive Assistant and lobbyist for the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium while pursuing a Master of Public Administration at the Ecole nationale d’administration publique du Québec. @carlaguillaume

Rahul Pallan is a delegate for the Y7 2020 Canada delegation. Currently, he is a master's candidate in International Affairs and Global Cyber Security at King’s College London. @pallanrahul

Josh Goldstein is a delegate for the Y7 USA delegation. Currently, he is a PhD student in International Relations at the University of Oxford. @JoshAGoldstein

Laura Gaißmaier is the delegate for the Y7 Germany delegation. Currently, she is studying International Relations and Economics in Germany and is passionate about Feminist Foreign Policy & Sustainability. @lauras_ga

Thomas Gasselin is a delegate for the Y7 France delegation. @GasselinThomas

Francesca Voce is a delegate for the Y7 Italy delegation. @fpmvoce

Paul Price is the Principal Advisor to the Consul General of Japan in Calgary, Alberta. He also served as a research analyst for the Atlantic Council of Canada and as a Research Fellow for the organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. @paulpryce

Anne Steuernagel is a delegate for the Y7 Germany delegation. Anne is a Master’s candidate at Freie Universität Berlin in Public Economics and is involved in international and domestic politics within several forums across Germany. @MsTaxnail

Mohamed Abdelrhman is a delegate for the Y7 UK delegation. He is a Master’s candidate at Cambridge University, in Development Studies, and holds a First-Class degree in Economics from SOAS, University of London. @mabdelrhman11

Jean Paul (JP) is an Anishinaabe business leader who currently serves as Chief Development Officer at Steel River Group. Previously, he was President and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, and is committed to sharing the challenges and successes of Aboriginal business in Canada. @jp_gladu

Sonya Gulati is a senior management consulting manager at KPMG and has served on the Government of Canada’s Expert Panel on Youth Employment as an advisor. She is an economist and visionary skilled in applying evidence-based analytics to complex business problems.

Vasiliki Bednar is a regulatory entrepreneur and public policy strategist. She serves on the Advisory Council for Girls in Tech and is Editor in Chief at “regs to riches”. She also served as Chair of the Government of Canada’s Expert Panel on Youth Employment, and her work has been published in the Globe and Mail and the Ottawa Citizen. @VassB

Diane Tsang is a delegate for the Y7 USA delegation. Currently,  she works in research management at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. Before graduating as a Regents Scholar of UCLA, she studied at the University of Geneva and Sciences Po Paris.

Diego Creimer is a communications and public affairs specialist for the David Suzuki Foundation. Previously, he worked for many years as a journalist for Radio Canada and in communications at Greenpeace. @DiegoCreimer
